RECOVERY 2.0

RECOVERY 2.0

San Antonio, TX

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:

You measure recovery by whether or not you’ve acted out.

You are tired of feeling like your recovery work is never “good enough.”

You hear people talk about the work of recovery but you aren’t exactly sure what that is.

The “deeper work” of recovery just feels like more weight to carry and more busy-work to do.

Your wife says things like, “you might be sober but you haven’t changed”, “you’re inconsistent in your recovery” or “you are passive about recovery”.

You want deep, connected intimacy but don’t know how to get there.

You are tired of feeling like the goal post of recovery keeps moving, and wondering if you’re even playing on the right field.

You want to be defined by who you are becoming not who you’ve been.

WHO WILL BE HELPING YOU:

You’ll have access to multiple members of our team at this event. We have been there. We’ve been at the bottom and thankfully had helping hands to lift us up. We practice what we preach in our day-to-day lives personally, and invest our time professionally trying to honor God by helping other men and marriages experience deep change. We value practicality over theory, vulnerability above pretense and dirt under the fingernails over plaques on the wall.

THE WORK WE’LL BE DOING:

THE PAST

We have to know where we’re coming from and how we got here if we want to change where we are going. But to only look at the past is like driving looking in the rearview mirror.

THE PRESENT

Today can be different. When we see how the past informs the present, we can create new frameworks and dynamics to offset those things, and begin to engage our world differently. This isn’t about not acting out today, it is about being the kind of man that doesn’t act out today.

THE FUTURE

Its hard to get somewhere when you don’t know where you are going! Most men in recovery dont know the end game, and have never painted a clear picture of what is on the other side of all the work. We’ll give you a blueprint for what the future can look like.

IDENTITY

Some of us have lost who we really are, and even in our sobriety have taken on identities that aren’t our true selves. Part of our work will be to understand and begin to embrace our true identity.

SELF-AWARENESS

We’ll help you see you in new ways. We’ll work on breaking down walls of self deception and acknowledging our patterns and proclivities.

CO-CONSPIRING WITH CHRIST

We believe we can’t change on our own. And simultaneously, God doesn’t just change us when we’re sitting on the couch watching TV. We must co-conspire with Christ, engaging opportunities to change while allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us. We’ll talk about how to live all this out in our day-to-day lives.

CONNECTION

Our hope is that in the short time we’re together, you make a couple of connections that will last a life time.

INTIMACY AVERSION

One of the oldest stories in the book is that of hiding from ourselves, each other, and God. We’re afraid of intimacy, but at the same time want to be connected and long to be known. We’ll break down the barriers to intimacy to help you connect with yourself, with God and with other people - especially your wife.

CHARACTER

Sobriety means we aren’t acting out any more. Recovery means we are redeeming aspects of our character that were missing, dormant or corrupted in our old lives of acting out. We want a new way of life borne out of new character.
